1. Cordyceps
Product claim: Steady energy without crashes · Improved brain and memory function
Cordyceps sinensis Improves Exercise Performance and Aerobic Thresholds in Healthy Older Adults
Citation: Chen S et al. "Effect of Cs-4® (Cordyceps sinensis) on Exercise Performance in Healthy Older Subjects: A Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Trial." Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine. 2010;16(5):585-90. PMC3110835
This double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 20 healthy adults aged 50–75 who received either Cordyceps sinensis (Cs-4, 999 mg/day) or placebo for 12 weeks. Researchers measured aerobic capacity using breath-by-breath analysis on a stationary cycle ergometer at baseline and after supplementation.
Participants taking Cs-4 showed a 10.5% increase in metabolic threshold — the point above which lactate accumulates during exertion — and an 8.5% increase in ventilatory threshold. No significant changes occurred in the placebo group. These are meaningful physiological markers of enhanced aerobic capacity and fatigue resistance.
The authors concluded this supports the traditional use of Cordyceps for invigoration and fatigue reduction, and that Cs-4 may enhance aerobic performance in older adults — the population most likely to experience energy crashes and afternoon dips.
2. Chaga Mushroom
Product claim: Slows aging · Fights inflammation · Boosts brain power
Chaga Extract Reduces Oxidative DNA Damage in Human Lymphocytes by Up to 54.9%
Citation: Najafzadeh M et al. "Chaga mushroom extract inhibits oxidative DNA damage in lymphocytes of patients with inflammatory bowel disease." BioFactors. 2007;31(3-4):191-200. PubMed PMID: 18997282
This human cell study evaluated Chaga's antioxidant capacity using lymphocytes drawn from 20 patients with inflammatory bowel disease and 20 healthy volunteers. Researchers induced oxidative stress using hydrogen peroxide and measured DNA damage with and without ethanolic Chaga extract pretreatment.
Chaga produced a 54.9% reduction in oxidative DNA damage in IBD patients (p<0.001) and a 34.9% reduction in healthy volunteers (p<0.001). This is quantified, direct evidence that Chaga protects human cells from oxidative stress — the core cellular mechanism behind its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory reputation.
While this is an in vitro human cell study rather than an oral supplement trial, it uses actual human blood cells and represents the highest-quality available evidence for Chaga's protective antioxidant activity.
3. Maca Root
Product claim: Boosts brain power · Enhances mood · Increases energy levels
12-Week RCT (n=175): Red and Black Maca Significantly Improved Mood and Energy
Citation: Gonzales-Arimborgo C et al. "Acceptability, Safety, and Efficacy of Oral Administration of Extracts of Black or Red Maca in Adult Human Subjects: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled Study." Pharmaceuticals (Basel). 2016;9(3):49. PubMed PMID: 27548190
A 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial enrolled 175 adults at low and high altitude, comparing black maca, red maca, and placebo groups. Mood and energy scores were assessed at multiple time points throughout the study.
Results: at week 12, over 90% of maca-consuming participants reported increased energy levels. Red maca improved mood in approximately 80% of subjects at weeks 8 and 12. No serious adverse events were reported. Mechanistically, maca extracts are thought to promote hippocampal neurogenesis and increase serotonin and norepinephrine transmission through the endocannabinoid system.
With 175 participants and a rigorous double-blind design, this remains one of the most comprehensive human trials on maca's mood and energy benefits in the published literature.
4. Turmeric (Curcumin)
Product claim: Reduces inflammation · Aids metabolic function
Meta-Analysis of 66 RCTs: Turmeric Significantly Reduces Three Primary Inflammation Markers
Citation: Dehzad MJ et al. "Antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects of curcumin/turmeric supplementation in adults: A GRADE-assessed systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis." Cytokine. 2023;164:156144. PubMed PMID: 36804260
This GRADE-assessed meta-analysis synthesized data from 66 randomized controlled trials on turmeric and curcumin supplementation across a wide range of health conditions and populations.
Pooled results showed curcumin significantly reduced three of the most validated inflammation markers: C-reactive protein (CRP): −0.58 mg/L, TNF-α: −3.48 pg/mL, and IL-6: −1.31 pg/mL. Antioxidant capacity also improved — total antioxidant capacity (TAC) rose while malondialdehyde (MDA), a marker of oxidative cellular damage, decreased significantly.
This body of evidence — drawn from 66 high-quality human trials — provides gold-standard support for turmeric's anti-inflammatory effects and its role in supporting metabolic function.
5. Green Coffee Bean
Product claim: Supports metabolism · Promotes satiety
12-Week Double-Blind RCT: Green Coffee Extract Reduces Body Fat and Increases Lean Muscle Mass
Citation: Phukan P et al. "Supplementation of green coffee bean extract in healthy overweight subjects increases lean mass/fat mass ratio: A randomized, double-blind clinical study." Journal of the American College of Nutrition. 2021;40(3):213-221. PubMed PMID: 33796302. PMC7983441
A 12-week double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial evaluated a standardized green coffee bean extract (CGA-7, 500 mg/day, 50%+ chlorogenic acids) in healthy overweight adults. Body composition was measured via DEXA analysis — the clinical gold standard for assessing fat vs. lean tissue.
The CGA-7 group showed significantly reduced body weight, BMI, and body fat percentage vs. placebo. Lean mass and the lean-to-fat ratio markedly increased — participants weren't just losing weight, they were improving body composition. An earlier meta-analysis of three RCTs confirmed a statistically significant mean weight difference of -2.47 kg in favor of green coffee extract over placebo.
Chlorogenic acid (CGA), the key bioactive in unroasted green coffee, is largely destroyed by roasting — which is why the green coffee bean extract in Amazing Coffee provides distinct benefits not found in regular roasted coffee.
6. Ginseng
Product claim: Anti-fatigue · Antioxidant · Anti-inflammatory · Cognitive support
Meta-Analysis of 12 RCTs (1,298 Patients): Ginseng Significantly Reduces Fatigue — Plus a 2025 RCT Shows Cortisol Reduction
Citation: Liu M et al. "Efficacy of ginseng supplements on disease-related fatigue: A systematic review and meta-analysis." Medicine (Baltimore). 2022;101(27). PMC9239648
This meta-analysis pooled data from 12 randomized controlled trials involving 1,298 patients. In a fixed-effect meta-analysis, ginseng supplementation showed statistically significant efficacy for fatigue reduction with a standardized mean difference of 0.33 (95% CI: 0.22–0.44) — a consistent, meaningful effect across a large and diverse population.
A complementary 2025 human RCT found that wild ginseng extract supplementation significantly maintained muscular power output, reduced cognitive reaction time delay, and produced a significant decrease in cortisol levels post-exercise (p=0.001) compared to placebo — directly supporting Amazing Coffee's cortisol-balance and cognitive clarity claims.
Mechanistically, ginseng increases cortical levels of dopamine, noradrenaline, serotonin, and cyclic AMP in the brain — the neurochemical basis for both mental energy and mood support.
7. Matcha
Product claim: Weight control · Anti-inflammatory · Mental clarity
Triple-Blind RCT (12 Months, n=99): Matcha Improves Attention, Emotional Recognition, and Sleep Quality
Citation: Suzuki H et al. "Effect of matcha green tea on cognitive functions and sleep quality in older adults with cognitive decline: A randomized controlled study over 12 months." PLOS ONE. 2024. PubMed PMID: 39213264. PMC11364242
A rigorous triple-blind, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study enrolled 99 participants with cognitive decline or mild cognitive impairment. Participants received 2g of matcha daily (170mg catechins, 48mg L-theanine) or placebo for 12 months — with blinding applied to participants, clinicians, and the statistical analyst.
After 12 months, matcha significantly improved social acuity score (p=0.028), facial expression recognition, attention, and sleep quality vs. placebo. A separate short-term RCT found that after just two weeks of matcha intake, attentional function was maintained under mild psychological stress — with significantly lower Stroop test reaction times (p<0.05) vs. placebo. A fat oxidation crossover RCT further found matcha drinkers burned significantly more fat during 30 minutes of brisk walking (p<0.01) vs. control.
Matcha's unique EGCG + L-theanine + caffeine combination is what sets it apart — the trio works synergistically on focus, stress response, and metabolic rate in ways that regular green tea or coffee cannot replicate.
8. Green Tea (EGCG)
Product claim: Supports metabolism · Promotes satiety
Meta-Analysis of 59 RCTs: Green Tea Extract Reduces Body Fat and Increases Adiponectin — the Fat-Burning Hormone
Citation: Asbaghi O et al. "The effects of green tea extract supplementation on body composition, obesity-related hormones and oxidative stress markers: a GRADE-assessed systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials." British Journal of Nutrition. 2024;131(7):1125-1157.
This GRADE-assessed meta-analysis — the most comprehensive available on green tea — analyzed 59 RCTs on green tea extract (GTE) supplementation. Pooled results showed significant reductions in body mass, BMI, and body fat percentage, along with a significant decrease in malondialdehyde (MDA), a key marker of oxidative cellular damage.
Critically, GTE supplementation significantly increased adiponectin — the hormone that regulates insulin sensitivity and signals the body to burn fat rather than store it — and boosted total antioxidant capacity (TAC). The mechanism: EGCG inhibits COMT, an enzyme that breaks down norepinephrine, extending the body's fat-oxidizing signal and increasing baseline metabolic rate.
Green tea also reduces ghrelin (the hunger hormone), which connects directly to Amazing Coffee's craving management and appetite control benefits.
9. Cinnamon
Product claim: Manages blood sugar · Burns calories · Enhances memory and cognitive skills
Meta-Analysis of 24 RCTs: Cinnamon Significantly Reduces Fasting Blood Sugar and Insulin Resistance
Citation: Zhu C et al. "The effect of cinnamon supplementation on glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus: An updated systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials." Frontiers in Pharmacology. 2023. PubMed PMID: 37818728
A meta-analysis of 24 randomized controlled trials found cinnamon supplementation significantly reduced fasting blood sugar (SMD: -1.32, p<0.001), the HOMA-IR insulin resistance index (SMD: -1.32, p<0.001), and HbA1C (SMD: -0.67, p=0.011) vs. control groups. An umbrella review of 21 additional meta-analyses confirmed benefits across blood glucose, lipid profiles, insulin resistance, and antioxidant capacity.
Cinnamon acts as a natural insulin mimetic: it activates insulin receptor PI 3-kinase, improves cellular glucose uptake, and slows gastric emptying to blunt post-meal blood sugar spikes. This mechanism directly explains Amazing Coffee's sustained energy benefit — blood sugar instability is one of the primary causes of afternoon energy crashes, and cinnamon helps prevent exactly that.
When blood sugar stays stable, energy stays stable. That's not marketing — it's biochemistry backed by 24 clinical trials.
10. Cocoa
Product claim: Promotes satiety · Enhances mood · Supports brain function
Meta-Analysis + RCT: Cocoa-Rich Products Significantly Reduce Depression and Anxiety Scores
Citation: Fusar-Poli L et al. "The effect of cocoa-rich products on depression, anxiety, and mood: A systematic review and meta-analysis." Critical Reviews in Food Science and Nutrition. 2022;62(29):7905-7916. PubMed PMID: 33970709
A systematic review and meta-analysis per PRISMA guidelines analyzed 9 studies on cocoa-derived products and mood. Random-effects meta-analyses found a significant effect of cocoa on depressive symptoms (Hedge's g = -0.42) and anxiety (Hedge's g = -0.49) — both clinically meaningful effect sizes. A parallel double-blind RCT found 30 days of 500mg cocoa polyphenols significantly increased self-rated calmness and contentedness vs. placebo in healthy middle-aged adults.
A 2022 randomized controlled trial additionally found 85% cocoa dark chocolate improved mood in healthy adults specifically through gut microbiome changes — suggesting a gut-brain axis mechanism that may partly explain reduced cravings and improved digestion alongside emotional benefits.
Cocoa also contains theobromine and phenylethylamine — compounds that support dopamine activity — and is a rich source of fiber, contributing to the satiety and appetite control claims in Amazing Coffee.
